Joy and the Creative Process
If there is one thing I could possibly love more than drawing, it might be the happiness that comes with it. If nothing else, joy can make the creative process seem effortless and this has always served as my inspiration. From color palate to subject matter, I'm always looking for the spark of fun, animation and inspiration that makes life more interesting.
After receiving my MFA in Illustration, I began a freelance career that has involved commissions for READ Magazine/ Weekly Reader, South Magazine, Caspari Inc., and Geneologie/The Emory Group as well as numerous private commissions. From pet portraits to wedding monograms, each collaboration has reflected my appreciation for what brings happiness to others.
In my personal work I've experimented for several years with gouache, acrylics and digital washes to capture animals and their unique characters. As a student with marine biology aspirations, animals and their various ecosystems have always fascinated me. My artistic renderings are an homage to the science and poetry that combine to make living things "animate."
